Sources: Michael Vick to Start Sunday Against Giants
According to NFL sources, Michael Vick will be back under center for the Eagles this week when the team takes on the New York Giants. Vick is expected to start and take first team reps in practice all week following the concussion suffered by Nick Foles.
Foles took over the starting responsibilities from Vick after Vick strained his hamstring on October 6 against the Giants.
The injury to Vick sparked a “quarterback conversation” and it appears that an injury to Foles may end those talks.
Since the preseason quarterback battle, Eagles fans have joined up on either “Team Vick” or “Team Foles” and many Foles supporters were pleased with the second year quarterback’s performance for a game and a half. He was very sharp spelling Vick against the Giants and put up very impressive numbers against the Buccaneers to get the Eagles back to .500.
All of that went out the window against the Cowboys. Foles played woefully against Dallas completing just 11 of 29 passes for 80 yards before leaving the game with a head injury. Foles was replaced by rookie Matt Barkley who threw for three interceptions in just 20 attempts.
It appears that Foles will not be ready to play Sunday and Vick will be back under center even if he is not at 100 percent. Sorry to all of you “Team Barkley”
members out there. It does not appear that he will be making his first start.
So after the two game Foles roller coaster, the question now becomes, is Vick the unquestioned best quarterback for the Eagles?
Prior to his injury, the Eagles were the second ranked NFL offense. Vick has completed 53.8 percent of his passes and has thrown five touchdowns to two interceptions while rushing for two more touchdowns. He has passed for 1,185 yards and boasts a 90.6 rating.
The Eagles will look to get back to .500 on the season this weekend against the Giants who picked up their first win of the season last night against the Vikings.
