Eagles 53-man Roster Prediction
As the regular season approaches and teams cut down nearly half of the players from training camp, consider this time as a football version of march madness as we pick and choose the winners of key (and not so key) position battles. Notable cuts: Trevard Lindley, Chas Henry, Brandon Hughes
1. The Eagles trade Darryl Tapp and Trent Edwards.
-It’s going to be a tough decision for the birds at the quarterback position, but trade Edwards because of his prior experience as a starter in Buffalo and Jacksonville he will be a more appealing option on the market. He could net around a 6th round pick
-Tapp is out solely because of the depth the Eagles have at DE. He is a veteran that can be a meaningful contributor for any team looking to shore up their defensive line. I think he could net the Eagles a 4th round pick.
-Andy Reid said it last year and he will say it again, you can never have too many good cornerbacks. In fact, they’ll be letting an interesting young corner, Brandon Hughes, walk in order to keep Hanson on the roster. Given the unprecedented passy happy nature of the NFL and the pressure on the Eagles defense to succeed, it’s a safe move.
-For Jaiquawn Jarrett, his time on the roster will be a final chance to prove himself before special teams standout Colt Anderson comes back from his torn ACL. If Anderson is released or stashed on IR it will be because of Jarrett’s play.
