Use These Natural Remedies for Altitude Sickness

Use These Natural Remedies for Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness can be a big problem, especially if you are located a couple of thousands meters above the nearest clinic, in a place where you cant get a good reception with your mobile phone (if you even brought one in the first place) and where it is becoming increasingly more difficult to even breathe. Every good alpinist knows about the importance of natural remedies for altitude sickness and the measures for avoiding it, but unfortunately, many forget about them and this mistake can often be their last.

Drinking water may sound too obvious to be one of the natural remedies for altitude sickness, but I cannot stress its importance enough. This is even more important on high altitudes than normally, because you will get tired more easily and dehydration can come before you know it, even if you are in a peak of physical form. Because of this, it is important to always pay attention to your breathing and make sure that it does not become fast and deep. To prevent yourself from getting dehydrated, drink plenty of water, but also make sure that your urine is in normal quantities and that it is clear. Even though you might be tempted to bring an energy drink, juice or some other drinks instead dont do this, as the water is best for hydration. In addition, you should definitely avoid alcohol since it will only add to the dehydration, especially if you are on higher altitudes.

Your body will get enough exercising when youre climbing a mountain as it is, so there is really no need for any additional exercises, at least not until youve completely adjusted to the new and higher altitude. When you are at higher altitudes, it is much better to simply relax and enjoy more leisure activities, like reading a book, listening to music, than doing pushups or squats. Simply limiting how much you will exert yourself is sometimes better than any natural remedies for altitude sickness.

Natural Remedies for Altitude Sickness – Other Methods and Remedies

There are, of course, other natural remedies for altitude sickness and methods that you might want to try. For instance a simple lemon soda can prevent vomiting, a common problem on high altitudes. Christopher Hobbs, a world-renown herbalist recommends using ginger, as it can be very helpful for treating altitude sickness, especially the mild levels. Simply mix about 20 drops of ginger liquid into a ½ cup of water and drink the mixture if you are feeling the effects of altitude sickness. You will also need to avoid eating heavy food that contains a lot of oil when climbing high. It is much better to eat foods that are easier to digest and to do so in small portions. This way, your body will avoid spending too much energy on digesting it. Finally, if you are experiencing high altitude pulmonary edema or high altitude cerebral edema, you should seek out emergency medical attention.

Making An Earache Home Remedy

Making An Earache Home Remedy

An earache home remedy is a simple concoction that can easily be created from items readily available. There are things in your medicine cabinet, bathroom, pantry and even your spice cabinet that will make a perfectly good remedy to cure an annoying earache. When your child is in a bad mood because his ear hurts, you will be glad that you can easily throw together a remedy and quickly rid him of the pain. Start with your medicine cabinet.

A bit of ibuprofen or acetaminophen combined with ear drops or other remedy will help sooth the pain quickly while the drops tackle the cause. A hot water bottle makes an excellent compress, as does a non-electrical heating pad. Just make sure that the temperature is not too hot. A baby’s teething gel becomes a remedy for an earache when a couple of drops are placed on a cotton ball. Hydrogen peroxide, mouthwash, medicinal chest rub and tiger balm work the same way.

You should have at least one of these items somewhere in your bathroom if not in your medicine cabinet. Mineral oil is another handy ingredient to have. Warm drops can be placed in the ear to treat an earache. Or they can be used to keep water out. Just use a few drops before swimming or bathing. Grab the rubbing alcohol from the bathroom and make your way to the kitchen. Get out the white vinegar and mix a 50/50 combination of the two. These drops will help clear up an earache, ear infection or swimmers ear.

They are safe to use after every dip in the pool or tub to keep future earaches at bay. A favorite kitchen ingredient in earache remedies is olive oil. By itself, it can be warmed and used as drops. You can mix it with cinnamon, fresh cut garlic or raw onion juice for effective ear drops. Brush it on a piece of a fresh garlic clove and place on the ear for a simple cure.

Create a paste by crushing basil, tumeric, garlic, ginger or onions and warm it. When wrapped in a cloth, it becomes a poultice that can be applied to the outside of the ear. Onions can also be used in cooked form. Stick with steaming or baking and leave the skin on. One half of the onion can be held cut side against the affected ear for relief or the onion can be crushed and the juice used for drops.

Either way, make sure it isn’t too hot. Any of these remedies should help relieve the pain of an earache and cure the cause of it. Use hot soup and herbal teas for comfort food. Take vitamin C to help the immune system do battle with the earache. Try making a different earache home remedy each time until you find the one that works the best for you.

Holistic Treatment for Herpes

Holistic Treatment for Herpes

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease or STD, which is the result of the herpes simplex 1 or type 2 virus.  Most cases of genital herpes are the result of type 2 and most people have no signs or symptoms until the first outbreak occurs.  When you suspect you may have herpes, you need to arrange for an appointment with your doctor to determine a diagnosis.  Generally, treatment for herpes consists of taking antiviral medications to treat and suppress outbreaks, but there is also holistic treatment for herpes methods you can use as well.

What are the signs and symptoms of genital herpes?

With genital herpes, you will experience one or more blisters in the genital area and these typically itch and burn.  Once the blister breaks, it will leave a tender sore which can take anywhere from 14-30 days to heal from the first appearance.  Typically, another outbreak will happen within a matter of days or weeks after the first, but these are normally less severe and shorter than the initial one.  Though you will generally experience fewer outbreaks over the years, you still need to seek diagnosis and medical treatment in order to treat the disease and avoid spreading it to others.  In addition to medications, you can also explore the benefits of holistic treatments for herpes, because it can help to improve your quality of life and alleviate the symptoms of herpes outbreaks.

How does someone contract genital herpes?

Herpes simplex 1 and 2 are found and released from sores which contain the virus, but it can also occur between outbreaks from areas on the skin which do not have sores.  Most often, a person contracts herpes simplex 2 from having unprotected sexual intercourse with someone who has the virus, but not everyone knows they have the disease. Herpes simplex 1 can also cause genital herpes, but these are most often the types which causes sores on the lips and mouth.  When someone receives a diagnosis of herpes, it is important to follow your doctors treatment plan and to even think about holistic herpes treatments as well, because these can help.

How is genital herpes diagnosed?

The signs and symptoms a person has when experiencing herpes types 1 or 2 can vary and some individuals have none at all.  Normally, a health care professional will make a diagnosis of herpes of the genitals by performing a visual examination, but it can also be done using a blood test if the person has not had an outbreak.  Once you receive a diagnosis of herpes, you need to discuss treatment options with your doctor and you may want to think about holistic treatment for herpes after talking further with a holistic health practitioner.

Why should you consider holistic treatments for herpes?

Herpes can be a very disturbing diagnosis and when you receive it, your life is going to change in many ways.  You must take precautions to prevent active outbreaks from occurring and you must also protect yourself and your sexual partner from contracting the virus as well.  Through using different holistic treatment for herpes methods you can control your health, decrease the number of outbreaks you experience and have a better quality of life as well, so it is worthwhile to explore all the options available.

Common Causes Related to Insomnia

Common Causes Related to Insomnia

Insomnia is not a condition that only has a few symptoms. But, a condition that is the result of numerous factors. The reasons for insomnia can be the result of emotional or medical issues. Or, they may be due to your habits or lifestyle. Within the course of this article, we are going to look at of the reasons that can cause insomnia. This should help you to know why you are not able to go to sleep at night.

Frequent flyers and other travelers may find that insomnia is an uninvited guest on their travels. This is more common among travelers who move across different time zones. Today, more and more people travel long distances, and this can upset the bodys natural internal clock. There are many other possible causes of insomnia though that do not involve crossing time zones. People who drive long distances for their professions or have no permanent residence while on the road also commonly have trouble sleeping. Your body wants an established routine and these things ignore that need.

Constantly changing your routine can definitely lead to insomnia. Age is another common cause of insomnia. Your body produced melatonin to help you sleep but as you get older your body makes less and less of this hormone. There is a lot of criticism for hormonal therapies like this however so be sure to talk to your doctor before taking melatonin for insomnia. One other reason that this affects the aging population is often as nothing more than a side effect of medications that are taken to treat other conditions. But there are some who would argue that the human body simply needs less sleep as you age. Older people who are having trouble sleeping should ask their doctors advice if they are having trouble sleeping.

Failing to get adequate amounts of physical activities into your day can be a huge factor for insomnia. If you spend all your time sitting or lying around, your body may not be active enough and it will be difficult to fall asleep at night. There can be significant consequences to your overall health, and not just a lack of sleep, that results from insufficient amounts of daily exercise. If you are suffering from insomnia a good first look would be into the amount of exercise you are getting each day and how you can increase it. Start with small changes in your daily activity levels and see for yourself what kind of results youre getting.

The process of getting older is another reason people have trouble sleeping. The natural hormone, melatonin, is produced within the body but with age, the production slows. For some people, the simple solution is to take a melatonin supplement though some fear it is unsafe. Older people are also more likely to be taking medications for various health problems, and these can sometimes interfere with sleep. One other argument that is beginning to gather some degree of steam is that older people dont need as much sleep anymore. It really doesnt matter how old you are, you should discuss the problems youre having sleeping with your doctor to see if there is cause for concern.

See if there is help for your particular condition. If you treat the main problem, you might be amazed to learn that you insomnia might be cured as well.

All in all, insomnia is a condition that will make it hard for the sufferer to live a normal life in many ways. Plenty of people who are tired and do not have any energy would truly benefit with more hours of sleep. If you have problems sleeping, understand that you might be suffering from one of these causes. However, there could be tons of reasons why you are experiencing this situation. So, it would be wise to focus on the things that you do on a daily basis.
