Bynum’s return delayed, may miss February goal, world reeling from shock
Well the headline kinda says it all, even I couldn’t bury this lead. It looks like flareups of pain in his left knee are back and limiting his practice and weight-loss (yeah…) goals.
But don’t take it from me, here’s the official word from ESPN.com Rumor Central:
More thoughts and some video of Andrew actually moving after the break…
So this is pretty disheartening news for most Sixers fans. It was originally thought and reported that the big man could possibly make his return near the upcoming All-Star break. Looks like that won’t happen.
With only 30-some games left in the season it’s looking less and less likely that we will see Bynum in a Sixers uni this year. And while I would never cheer an injury or wish one to stay hurt, I do think this might be the best thing that could happen to this Sixers right now.
It has to be made painfully clear that resigning Bynum is not in the club’s long term best interest, and it isn’t. I’ve chronicled that before, here and here (check them out, they are still eerily relevant, I promise).
But enough of that, this is a discussion for another time. For now, here’s sorta what Mr. Bynum would look like if he was healthy enough to be practicing right at this very moment:
